Now that the bowls season is up and running we thought it would be a good idea to show another bowls film...unfortunately outside Crackerjack (which we will show again later in the year) there aren't any good ones so have gone with a Ten Pin Bowling film instead, classic 90s comedy Kingpin. We'd like to think this won't offend traditional bowls members but coming from the makers of Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary, this is certainly a 'bad taste' comedy but most importantly Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid and Bill Murray's hair provide plenty of laughs. The film showing will be on Wednesday April 25th (Matt's b'day for anyone wanting to buy him a present!) at 8.30 after usual evening bowls / table tennis and as always is…

We are delighted to invite you to the inaugural film night at Greville Smyth Community Bowls Club on Thursday 23rd November (Doors open 7pm, film starts 8pm).  For the opening night to show off our new 106 inch screen, what better film to select than Crackerjack, the ‘best bowling film ever made’* (admittedly not a large amount of competition!). Although little known in the UK, it was the highest grossest film in Australia in the year of its release and received the following recommendation in the Sydney Morning Herald - 'a good-natured comedy...in which there's a nostalgia for our lost honour....this nostalgia for an Australia of mateship and communal spirit is the film's main surprise’.
