With Band, Buffet and Bowls this was a lovely occasion. The Ravens Marching Band played some stirring music. We had some members of our predecessor club join us in the whites and they were given a challenging game from the Visually Impaired Bowlers. The Deputy Lord Mayor said a few words and cut the cake. Those of us who watched were mightily entertained whilst we supped. [envira-gallery id="811"]
To mark the 110th anniversary of a club on our green we are holding a celebration. All are welcome - non members, members, or a member of another club who has played at our lovely green in times gone by. Please join us. There will be music from the Marching Community Scout Band, The Ravens, who will be playing some old time favourites. There will also be refreshments on sale in the form of sandwiches, cream teas, sponge cakes, and soft and alcoholic drinks from our licensed bar. And, as always, there will be the opportunity for everyone to play bowls! Given that we will be celebrating an event which originated in the Edwardian era, you might like to come in Edwardian attire.
I hope you can make it to our 1st ever Rock'n'Bowl event on Monday 7th May from 2pm. Please feel free to invite along friends and family, both young and old. If you are likely to come can you please let us know so we can have a rough idea of numbers to ensure there is enough food and liquid refreshments. Many thanks Matt Social Secretary, GSCBC PS. Can someone please bring the sun with them

If you're a member please don't forget to come along and help shape the club for next year. Lots of ideas buzzing around for next year but this needs YOU and others to make them happen. NO OUTDOOR BOWLS now but we have the short mat so we may have a game after the meeting. News about winter activities and opening times will be posted.
Our green will start having it's winter maintenance on 2nd October. Our last day of outdoor bowls will be 1st October until next April. Let's hope for some fine weather. But we now have a short mat in the pavilion for those occasions when play is not possible outside or over the winter. Come and try your hand at short mat bowls - it's different.
